Entering its 2018 season, the Festival produces energetic new interpretations of plays, with the artistry and humanity of the Shakespearean canon as our inspiration and guide. The Festival performs to audiences of over 10,000 every summer and operates under an Actors' Equity U/RTA Tier I contract.
Local general auditions for the 2018 season will be held on October 28, 2017 in Normal. Please prepare two contrasting Shakespearean monologues. To request an audition, send a headshot/resume to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include "Local Generals" in the title of your email.
We are currently accepting video submissions for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival 2018 Summer Season. Please send video of two contrasting monologues (at least one must be Shakespeare) to email@example.com by November 1, 2017. We will hold callbacks in Chicago and Normal at a later date.
The Illinois Shakespeare Festival operates as a repertory company. Actors are contracted to play multiple roles in two or more of the season productions.
The Festival seeks out actors who are passionate about working on Shakespearean texts and enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge, energy, and talents with other artists and with our audience members. Creating a positive and supportive environment that fosters artistic excellence is of primary importance at the Festival.
Festival actors are contracted to play roles in up to three shows. ISF functions under an U/RTA Tier 1 contract. All Equity and non-Equity positions are paid. The Festival offers housing for all employees.
