Internships are also available in Scenery, Scenic Art, Props, Lighting, Costumes and Production Assistant areas. All intern positions are full season. While internships are unpaid, housing is provided at no cost, and six hours of course credit is earned from Illinois State University free of tuition or fees.

The Festival plays to audiences of over 10,000 every summer and operates under an Actors' Equity Association U/RTA Tier I contract. Illinois State University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
The Festival technical staffs are typically contracted either for the build period from May 17 until July 10 or for the full season from May 17 until August 16.
Supervisors are generally asked to arrive a few days earlier. The Illinois Shakespeare Festival employees between 60-75 technicians each summer. Housing is available at a nominal cost.
